Heritage Volunteers

Heritage Volunteering began in 1968, early in the history of NADFAS (as The Arts Society was originally named) and the volunteers were collectively known as the 'Voluntary
Conservation Corp'.
Heritage volunteers aim to celebrate and preserve the arts and, with like-minded Arts
Society members, have the opportunity to learn new skills and perform a useful function in
the care and conservation of our heritage.
A volunteer group is currently working at The Atkinson Museum and Gallery checking,
cleaning, documenting and re-boxing the ceramics collection. The costume collection has
already undergone a condition check and it is hoped that phase 3 of the project will involve
the glass and silver collections.
The Arts Society Southport has recently funded a local initiative (with the aid of a grant from
the Patricia Fay Memorial Fund) to create information display boards for several local 'heritage at risk' projects including the Scarisbrick Mausoleum.
